a cat on the dashboard is a cat indeed

Moving house is never fun. I decided after packing the first two boxes that I was never moving again. I'll die in the house I have moved into before I move out (says the renter).

Buddy didn't like moving much either. Before we did the big move I googled "Moving with Cats" and was brought to a very pg 13 article on ninemsn about what to do. Lots of moving things when the cat isn't there and putting their favourite blanket and food and water into a cat box. Bless, how nice.

This is what we did.

We rolled up to the ol s'pine at about 7pm at which point Buddy immediately started crying. I started to pack up Buddy's scratching post and food and Buddy continued to cry. Jaryd shut up upstairs so Buddy wouldn't have any where to go hide while he packed up the last of the kitchen. Buddy stood at the door leading upstairs and cried. Since I had already packed Buddy's wordly possessions (including his Barbie placement...what the shit?) into the car I decided to distract him by playing with him.

Hmmm, all toys have been packed and Buddy never was one for playing with toys. Aha! An enviro bag. Perfect. Buddy played with the enviro bag for a good 15 minutes and even ended up inside it at one point. Mission accomplished, even if I did fear for my life a few times when instead of jumping at the enviro bag he launched for my face.

And then we put him in the car.

Buddy loves the car. He loves being in the car and looking out the window so we don't put him in a cat cage. A cat cage would just make him angry and then he would scratch my face off when we let him out. So I nominated to drive while Jaryd held onto Buddy. It was pouring rain and Buddy was already irritable and after going down a particularly large hill Buddy launched himself onto the dashboard. Hilarious, except that I couldn't see where I was going. Jaryd lurched forward trying to pull Buddy off but his claws were right in there. As all good problem solvers do, Jaryd pulled the dash mat off the dash and we drove to our new residence in peace.

As we put Buddy down on the hallway of our new house he looked up with his beautiful big eyes and looked like a little kid. Then he went and got in every cupboard he could then fell asleep.

Bless his little chocolate face.
